Are there benefits to being a designated driver?
Being a designated driver can make you feel as though your night won't be quite as much fun as it could be. But are there any benefits?
Freebies: Some clubs and bars give free non-alcoholic drinks to nominated designed drivers who wear an identifying wristband for the evening.
You'll actually remember what you did: Too often you can drink too much and not remember much from the night before. If it's any consolation, by not drinking, at least you'll have a recollection of all the hot people you flirted and danced with.
Don't feel like drinking? Let's face it - there are times we just don't feel like drinking at all - whether it be for work or an important function the next day or just as a personal choice. Being a designated driver means it's an excuse not to drink that everyone will understand and won't second-guess.
Save money: We all know how quickly you can spend money when you're buying drinks on a night out. As a designated driver, at least you won't be spending as much. Plus your mates might even help pay for petrol.
You won't be as likely to embarrass yourself if you haven't been drinking.
