Warning signs to look out for in a guy

We've all met them - the guys who come across as being charming, fun-to-be with, and popular, but in reality once you get to know them better or start a relationship with them, soon turn out to be deceiving, inconsiderate and waste your time.

So how can you tell early on if the hot looking guy who's cracking onto you is the perfect guy or someone you shouldn't waste your time on? Here are some things to look out for.

Popularity

How's the guy seen by his friends and those around him? If he's popular and people talk well about him, it's a good start. But be warned - people act differently in relationships and the most popular guys can also end up being the worst in a relationship.

Approach towards others

See how the guy acts towards other people. He'll likely be nice to his friends and those around him, but if you notice him being rude and inconsiderate towards other people he comes across - like bar staff - chances are that what you're seeing then is his true nature and everything else is being "put on" for the social situations he's in.

Check their Facebook

Are there any comments on their Facebook page from him or his friends about other girls - and what do they say? Any photos that give away what he could be really like? Has he "liked" any pages that seem a bit inappropriate towards women? They might be meant as a joke, but there could be some truth to how he sees girls.

Other girls

How does he treat other girls? Do you get the impression he just wants to sleep with everyone or does he treat you - and only you - as the girl he wants to be with?

Past relationships

As you get to know him better ask about past relationships and how they've ended. If there's a common denominator as to how they've ended? If there is, chances are it's not his ex-girlfriends, but him that's the problem.

Ask your guy friends

Guys have an amazing ability to pick up other guys who are "fakes". Ask your close guy friends what they think about the guy you're interested in and they'll quite likely give you an accurate assessment.

These are just some of the signs to look out for when your first meet a guy. In all, there are tons of other signs too. Trust your instincts. If everything seems fine, hope for all the best and go for what you feel.
